On May 12th 2013, Senator Thanh Hai Ngo joined members of the Taiwanese community of Montreal at a celebration of Asian Heritage Month. He later attended an event organized by Generation Legacy at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Members of the Vietnamese-Canadian community gathered to support the Boat People Museum project and to remember those who fled Vietnam after the war to seek a new life in Canada. On May 4th 2013, Senator Thanh Hai Ngo attended an event for the Victims of Communism where he showed his support to Tribute to Liberty’s project to establish a major monument in memory of the victims of the crimes of communism and educated the public about communism’s past crimes and ongoing human rights abuses. On May 1st 2013, Senator Thanh Hai Ngo spoke on behalf of the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism to welcome and congratulate Canada’s newest citizens in Ottawa. Joining Canada’s newest members were students visiting from across Canada as part of the Rotary Adventure Citizenship Program. Senator Ngo acknowledged the importance of immigration in shaping the unique history of Canada.
