On June 5th, 2016 Senator Ngo attended the Hearts of Freedom Gala to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Presentation of the Nansen Medal Award at the Canadian Museum of History. The speakers list, in addition to Senator Ngo included former Ministers of Immigration, and figures from the UNHCR, Project 4000, Operation Lifeline, the Embassy of Norway, the Mennonite Central Committee, and the Refugee 613 Project.
