Edmonton Town Hall Meeting and Candle-light Ceremony

On December 1st 2012, Senator Thanh Hai Ngo met with members of the Vietnamese Unified Buddhist Congregation of Canada at the Truc Lam Monastery. During this event, Senator Ngo denounced violations of religious freedom in Vietnam and commemorated the Canadian soldiers who fought and those who continue to fight for peace and freedom.Senator then met with Vietnamese-Canadian seniors from the Tuoi Hac Golden Age Manor for an informal discussion.

On the following day, Senator Ngo met with members of the Edmonton Buddhist Research Institute and attended a town hall meeting, where he called for a halt to human rights violations and called upon the youth to follow in the footsteps of their elders and to contribute to society. Senator Ngo also took this opportunity to present Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals.
