Vancouver Flag Raising

On April 30^th, 2016, Senator Ngo attended a flag-raising ceremony in Vancouver to commemorate the first anniversary of “Journey to Freedom Day.” The event was held in honor of the Vietnamese refugees who fled their homeland over four decades ago in search of safety, security and democracy. “Journey to Freedom Day” is also an occasion to celebrate the growing Vietnamese-Canadian community, as well as Canada’s humanitarian aid during the worst refugee crisis of the 20^th century. The successful event was the result of the efforts of nine Vietnamese-Canadian organizations from Vancouver.
